Eις τον Aρχάγγελον Mιχαήλ.
Today is an important holiday for the Church. The Synaxis of the Archangels and Angels is celebrated by the Orthodox today, November 8th.
Eις τον Aρχάγγελον Γαβριήλ.
Angels are messengers of God, who momentarily take on a visible form during their visit. They communicate with people only on important historical occasions, when an important will of God is to be manifested or accomplished.
The leaders of the Angelic forces are Michael and Gabriel. Both meet in key events of the Scriptures. We first meet Michael in the Old Testament, when Abraham prepares to sacrifice Isaac. We meet Gabriel in the New Testament, in the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary and on other occasions.
